Overview

Survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 must learn how to come together and form a group that depends on each other for their survival. The island they crash on is very mysterious and they have many things to deal with such as "the others" (a group of people who have been on the island for many years and are abducting the children and "good people), the monster (a mysterious smoke monster that threatens them), as well as each other. They have to learn to put aside their differences and band together.

Episode 1.1 "Pilot: Part 1"

On September 22nd, 2004 Oceanic Flight 815 crashes onto a mysterious island on a flight from Sydney, Australia to LA, California. The plane splits into 3 sections and the fuselage part crashes on the beach with 48 survivors. Jack becomes the instant leader in the situation and helps out everyone who has been injured in the crash. All of the main characters are introduced and the group starts to form a camp waiting for rescue. Later that night, a horrible noise comes from the jungle. All of the survivors are scared and something is in the jungle. Jack, Kate, and Charlie decide to head into the jungle to find the transceiver in the cockpit of the plane. They soon stumble upon the wreakage and make their way inside. Everyone is dead, except the pilot and he helps them find the transceiver, but a horrible noise come from outside. It's the monster from the night before. Jack, Kate, and Charlie hide in the plane, but the pilot goes to see what made the noise and he is sucked out by the monster. The three go running from the monster and they get seprated. After the monster goes away, Kate and Charlie go looking for Jack. They find him by a lake and the three see the pilot dead hanging in the trees.


Episode 1.2 "Pilot: Part 2"

Jack, Kate, and Charlie head back to camp, but don't tell the other castaways what they saw. Sayid fixes the transceiver and he heads up a group composed of Kate, Sawyer, Charlie, Shannon, and Boone into the jungle to get a signal. Jack meanwhile is tending to a U.S. Marshal that was injured in the crash. The marshal wakes up and gets Jack to look at the picture of the fugitve he was escorting. The picture is of Kate. Meanwhile in the jungle, the group hears noises comming towards them. They start running, but Sawyer pulls out a gun and shoots the animal. It ends up being a polar bear. Later, they head up to higher ground and turn the transceiver on. It picks up a signal of a French woman and Shannon is able to translate it. The French woman has been on the island for 16 years and the rest of her group was killed.


Episode 1.3 "Tabula Rasa"
A Kate Episode
Songs: Leavin' On Your Mind - Pasty Cline; Wash Away - Joe Purdy

As the group heads back to camp, they decide not to tell anyone about the French woman's distress call so they don't loose their hope of rescue. Kate does tell Jack though, and he confronts her about her past and being a fugitive. In flashbacks, Kate went to Australia while on the run. She was staying at Ray Mullen's farm, when he found out she was a fugitive. He decided to turn her in and the marshal, Edward Mars, catches her. However, before he can she crashes their car and helps Ray escape from being killed in a car explosion. Kate is then caught right after that. Back on the island, the marshal is dying, but before he does he wants to speak with Kate. Elsewhere on the island, Locke and Walt start to form a bond, while Michael isn't to happy about that. Charlie and Claire connect, while Sun and Jin have some complicated moments. As Kate goes to talk with the marshal, he asks her what favor she wanted him to do. She said that she wanted Ray to get the reward money and to have help with his farm. She really cared about his well being. Then the marshal started to worsen and Jack found out that Kate was carring a gun. He ran over to the tent and saw Kate leaving. Then as she walked by him a gunshot went off. Sawyer had shot the marshal. Soon after this, the marshal died. The next day Kate walked over to Jack and was going to tell him what she had done to become a fugitive, but Jack said that he didn't want to know. They all have a fresh start here and she deserved one too. Jack and Kate start to become closer.


Episode 1.4 "Walkabout"
A Locke Episode

During the night something in found inside the fuselage and wakes everyone up. It ends up being a boar. The food supply starts to get low and Locke decides it's time they all started to hunt. He opens up one of his suitcases and it has 400 knifes in them. He takes Kate as well as Michael on a hunting trip the next morning. As they are hunting the boar, Michael gets attacked by one of them and it cuts his leg. In flashbacks, Locke used to work at a box company and decided to take a trip to Australia for a hunting Walkabout. However he is not allowed to go, because it is realved that he is in a wheelchair. After the crash Locke was healed and can now walk again. Elsewhere on the island, Walt is being watched by Sun, Sayid plans on a way of boosting the transceivers signal, Jack decides to cremate the dead survivors and Claire decides to officiate the memorial service. Jack also speaks with Rose, an Afrian American woman in her 50's, about her husband, whom Jack believes has died. Rose says she knows Bernard is alive and has faith that he will come back to her. Kate takes Michael back to the beach, but Locke will not come back. Soon after they leave, Locke comes face to face with the monster. As Kate and Michael come back to the beach, the rest fear that Locke is dead, but he soon comes out of the jungle with a big boar for dinner. The memorial service is held for the dead and Michael asks Locke if he saw the monster. He then tells him no.


Episode 1.5 "White Rabbit"
A Jack Episode

Jack is staring off in the jungle where he has just seen a man, when Charlie starts yelling that someone is in the water. Jack races off and dives in to recuse whoever it is. He ends up finding Boone and get him back to the camp. However, Boone says he wasn't the only one out there. Jack tries to go back for the person but can not find them. Joanna drowned out in the ocean after just going for a swim. Jack feels gulity and starts seeing the man in a suite again. Kate becomes worried about Jack not getting sleep. Later on, Charlie and Hurley tell Jack that they are starting to run out of water. Jack see the man again and starts to run after him. When he stops, the man turns around and looks at Jack. It is his father! In flashbacks, Jack is first shown as a young boy trying to save his friend Mark from being beat up. Jack then goes home and tells his father what happened. Christian says that Jack can't save everyone and that he'll never be a good leader. Years later, Jack is confronted by his mother, Margo, to get his father back. His dad had left Australia, because of something Jack did and she said it was Jack's responsibility to get him home. Jack goes there and finds his father dead from having a heart attack. Jack was on his way back to the US for his father's funeral. Elsewhere on the island, Claire and Kate bond over being on the island, then Claire passes out from having little water and it is not good for the baby she is carring. Charlie, Hurley, and Kate move her to Jack's tent and Charlie watches over her. Claire feels like everyone is afraid of her, but Charlie tells her that he's not scared of her. As Charlie looks for more water, he notices that the rest of the bottles are gone. He tells Kate and her and Sayid go after Sawyer, who they think has the water. He doesn't but he starts to flirt with Kate, but she is disgusted by him. Jack meanwhile chases his father and almost falls off a cliff! Locke is there to save him and he has a talk with Jack over being looked to as the leader and what he is seeing. Jack says it has to be a hallucination, but Locke says what if it's not. Locke tells Jack that everything happens for a reason and that he has seen the eye of the island and what he saw was beautiful. After Locke leaves, Jack sees his father again and follows it to the caves and fresh water. As he is there he also sees his father's coffin, but the body is not inside of it. Meanwhile, someone gives Claire water and it turns out to be Boone. Charlie catches him and almost gets into a fight when Jack appears. He tells them to stop and that he found fresh water. He also warns the castaways that "If we can't live together, we are going to die alone."


Episode 1.6 "House of the Rising Sun"
A Sun Episode
Songs: Are You Sure - Willie Nelson

A fight breaks out between Jin and Micheal. No one knows for sure why, but Michael blames it on race issues. Sun watches helplessly while Jin is handcuffed by Sawyer to a peice of the wreckage. Sun tries to figure out why her husband would do such a thing, then she realises it was because of a watch that her father gave Jin to transport to America. In flashbacks, Sun was the wealthy daughter of a Korean business man. Her and Jin, who was a poor worker, wanted to get married badly and Jin was finally able to convince her father of their engagement. Sun and Jin had a beautiful wedding, but months later their marrige started to crumble. Jin would come home bloody, and start getting angry. Sun, having no idea what her father was making Jin do, decided with help from a friend that she should leave. She took English lessons, and as they were on a business trip in Australia, Sun was going to fake her own kidnapping. However, when the time came, she saw the Jin still loved her and decided to go with him to America. Elsewhere on the island, Michael finds out that Walt's mother never spoke of him and Walt grew up not knowing about him, while Jack takes Kate, Locke, and Charlie to the caves. On the way there, Charlie is attacked by bees and the rest save him from being stung. As Jack and Kate are running from the bees, they find 2 dead bodies, one male and female, in a cave. Jack sees that they hold these black and white stones and he takes them. He also notices that the bodies have been there for about 50 years or more. Locke nicknames the bodies Adam and Eve. Meanwhile, Locke figures out that Charlie is a drug addict and is running out. He asks Charlie what he wants, and Charlie says his guitar. Locke then tells him that the only way he will get it back is if he trades the drugs for it. Charlie gives Locke the herion and as he looks up, his guitar is in the trees. Jack then comes up with the idea of moving the camp to the caves so they can be by the water. Jack asks Kate to move into the caves with him, but Kate is scared and tells him that she doesn't want to be Eve. The group becomes divided as half stay at the caves, and the other half stay at the beach. Meanwhile, after Sun goes to Michael and in English tells him why Jin attacked him, then she asks Micheal to not tell anyone she speaks English, especially Jin. Michael agrees, and goes to Jin and gives the watch back. Then he uses an ax and cuts off Jin's handcuffs. The episode ends as Jack and Kate stare into seprate fires feeling very lonely.


Episode 1.7 "The Moth"
A Charlie Episode
Songs: You All Everybody - DriveShaft

Charlie is now starting to go into withdrawls from the lack of herion. As he's walking in the woods, he is chased by what he thinks is the monster, but it is just a boar and Locke captures it. Charlie then goes up to him and asks for the drugs back. Locke tells him that he has two more chances to ask and on the third he will give them back. As Jack and Hurley are moving luggage to the caves, Charlie helps but Jack notices that he is looking for medication. Elsewhere, Jack tries to convince Kate to move to the caves with him, but she still won't listen. Kate decides to help Sayid with boosting the transceiver, but has to get a battery from Sawyer. Kate and Sawyer grow closer and she tells him she relates to him. Back at the caves, Charlie and Jack argue and there is a cave in! Jack gets traped and the survivors start to help get him out. Charlie feeling responsible, runs to the beach to get more help. He asks where Kate was, since she needed to know, and Boone tells him that she went with Sayid and Sawyer says he will go and tell her. Boone then gives Shannon his flare to help Sayid made the signal. At the caves everyone is helping and Michael takes charge since he was an architect. In flashbacks, Charlie was originally a faithful Catholic. He and his brother Liam formed a band DriveShaft and they started to get popular. Charlie noticed that the things they were doing were sinful and was going to quit the band, but Liam convinced him to stay. DriveShaft's popularity soared and the had a number 1 hit single. Then one night after their concert, Charlie noticed something was wrong with Liam. He was using herion. Charlie felt like he was being outcasted by his brother, and decided to join him with the drugs. Years later, Charlie went to vist Liam in Australia to start the band back up. However, Liam was clean now, and was living a good life with his wife Karen and their young daughter Megan. He told Charlie to stay and they would help him quit the drugs, but Charlie got angry and left to go back to LA. Back on the island, Kate was helping Sayid with the signal, and Sawyer ran up to them and was going to tell her about Jack, but Kate said something mean to him and he didn't tell her and starts to help them. As they are putting up the next antenna, Sayid leaves to put up the thrid and gives them the flare. Sawyer then tries to figure out what Kate sees in Jack, and Kate tells him that Sawyer couldn't even compare to him. That's when Sawyer decides to tell her that Jack was in the cave in and that he could be dead. Kate is shocked and throws the rocket at Sawyer. As Sayid sets the signal up, he lets off his flare, then Shannon does her, and Sawyer does his. However, as Sayid turns the radio on, he is knocked out by an unseen person. Back at the caves, Charlie goes into the hole they made and finds Jack with his arm pinned. He loosens it and helps Jack fix his dislocated shoulder. However, the cave caves in again and Jack and Charlie are both traped. Outside, the rest think they can't get back in, but Kate runs there and tells everyone to keep digging. They follow her and start again. Inside, Charlie and Jack talk. Jack tells Charlie that he figured out he was an addict and was going through withdrawls. Charlie realises that he looks up to Jack just like he used to with Liam, when he sees a moth fly by. Charlie says there has to be a openings somewhere and sees light comming from the distance. He and Jack started digging their way out. Meanwhile, as Kate is still trying to moves the rocks, Walt sees Jack and Charlie comming out. He tells everyone and Kate is overjoyed and runs into Jack's arms, thankful he's alive. Charlie is then given the credit for saving their lives. That night, Kate made Jack a sling and the two sit by the fire. Then Charlie goes up to Locke and asks for the herion, Locke is disapointed and gives it to him. However, Charlie tosses it into the fire and gives it up. Locke is pround of him and as Charlie looks up into the sky, a moth flies over him into the air.


Episode 1.8 "Confidence Man"
A Sawyer Episode
Songs: I Shall not Walk Alone - The Blind Boys of Alabama

After taking a swim in the ocean, Sawyer starts to flirt with Kate again. She plays it off and leaves. Then as he is walking back, he sees Boone going through his stash of items. At the caves Jack is treating Sayid and tells Jack that he is going to get the man responisable for hitting him and ruining the transceiver. Suddenly, Boone walks back beaten. He tells Jack that he was looking for Shannon's asthma inhalers and Sawyer had stolen a lot of things like Boone's book, but Sawyer had beaten him up and wouldn't give the refills. Jack then confronts Sawyer about the inhalers, but before they fight, Kate stops them. After they leave, Sawyer pulls out a letter. Kate clams Jack down and tells him that she can talk to Sawyer because they have a connection. Jack gets worried but lets her go. She talks to Sawyer and asks what he want in exchange for the inhalers, and her tells her he wants a kiss from her. Kate is weirded out by this and mentions the letter. Sawyer got angry and makes Kate read it. It was a letter from a little boy to Sawyer saying that he was at falt for what happened to his parents. His father had killed his mother and then commited suicide. Elsewhere, Locke convinces Sayid that Sawyer was the one who attacked him and gives Sayid a knife. Then, Shannon starts to have an asthma attack and Boone and Jack are trying to help her. Sawyer then comes there to get some water, and Jack gets very angry and punches him. However, Sawyer won't fight back. Shannon's attacks get worse and Jack and Sayid decided to do something about it. They knock out Sawyer and tie him to a tree. Sayid starts to use is military torturing training on Sawyer to get the information out at Jack looks on. Jack feeling guility stops Sayid and Sawyer says that he will only talk to Kate. Jack and Sayid get her and she starts to ask him where they are. Sawyer says he will still tell her if she kisses him. Kate agrees and does, but the kiss turns into something more. After they pull apart, Sawyer tels her that he doesn't have them, and angered and scared at how the kiss made her feel she punches him. She goes to Jack and Sayid and tells them that he doesn't have them, but then Sayid charges him with the knife. He stabs Sawyer in the arm and Jack and Kate rush over to help Sawyer and Jack mades Sayid go and get medical supplies. In flashbacks, Sawyer is a highly tranied con artist and decides to con his girlfriend Jessica and her husband for money. However, when he realises that they have a young son. He calls off the deal. Elsewhere on the island, Charlie and Claire are bonding more and he tries to convince her to move to the caves for her and the baby's sake. She still hopes for rescue and they talk about what they miss. Charlie misses a lot of food, and Claire tells him that she misses peanut butter. Charlie tells her that if he finds peanut butter, she has to move to the caves with him. Clarie agress and Charlie tries to find it. He asks Hurley, but he doesn't have any. Eventually, Charlie tells Claire he found some and gives her an empty jar. She's confuesed at first and he says it's imaginary peanut butter. The playfully prentend to eat it and share laughs. Claire then packs up her things and goes with Charlie. Sawyer wakes up with stiches in his arm when Kate comes up to him she tells him that she noticed that the letter was written in 1976 and that it had to have been written by Sawyer himself. Sawyer tells her that he was 8 when it happened and when he was 19 he needed money and became a con artist and took on the name Sawyer to track down the man that killed his parents. Kate sympathizes, with him but he forces her to leave telling her that he doesn't want her pity. Back at the caves, Jack goes to check on Shannon and find Sun tending to her. Sun knows herbal medicene and helps Shannon breathe. Jack and Boone thank her and Boone is there to confort Shannon and people notice their close bond. Sayid then meets Kate and tells her he's leaving to map out the island and for what he has done. He says that he is sorry and leaves. Sawyer meanwhile tries to burn the letter, but can't.


Episode 1.9 "Solitary"
A Sayid Episode

Sayid is sitting on a beach in a new part of the island. He is staring at a picture of an Arab woman and he runs his fingers over her face. Sayid places the picture back in his backpack and moves on. He walks along the beach and notices a cable. It is leading to the ocean, so he picks it up and follows it into the jungle. As he is walking, he notices an alarm wire and carefully steps over it. However, it was part of a trap and Sayid is caught is brought upwards by rope. He slams into a tree and is left hanging upside down. All of a sudden the rope is cut by someone and Sayid is thrown to the ground and passes out before he can see who takes him. Sayid soon wakes up tied to a bed in someone's hide out. He hears a woman ask "Where is Alex?" and he says he doesn't know. Then he gets painfully shocked with electricity. He begs her to stop telling her that he was in a plane crash and that he heard a distress call from a French woman. She starts to repeat the distress call and Sayid realises that his captor is the French woman. She still doesn't belive Sayid and says he is one of them and knocks her out. When Sayid wakes up again, she is looking through is things. He then notices a scientist jacket with the name Rousseau on it, and he calls her by this name. However she is more suspicious and asks Sayid for more information about him. She see the photo and asks who the woman is. In flashbacks, Sayid was a member of Iraq's republican guard and was promoted to a torturer. A woman is brought in and Sayid begins to ask her questions. She asks Sayid how come he doesn't remember her, and Sayid finds out that this girl is his childhood love Nadia. She asked Sayid why he was doing this to people and that it was not in his nature to be violent. He told her that he was trained to do this. Sayid helped out Nadia by not hurting her and sneaking her food. However, when Sayid wouldn't get more answers from her, his group was ordered to kill her. Sayid didn't want this to happen, so he helped Nadia escape, by making it look like she shot him. Before she left, she gave Sayid the picture of her with a message on the back. Elsewhere on the island, we met a new survivor, Ethan, and he was helping Locke with hunting. Kate worried about Sayid being out in the jungle and Jack reasured her that he would be fine. Michael wouldn't let Walt go hunting with Locke. Hurley came up with a way to relieve stress, by building a golf course and having Jack, Charlie, and Michael play with him. Everyone had fun playing and most of the castaways went to watch the first "Island Open". They were all laughing and having fun and Sawyer was even allowed to be there and they started making bets on who would win. However, Walt didn't go, he met up with Locke, who was practing throwing knifes. Walt asks if he can teach him, and Locke gives Walt the knife to practice. Meanwhile, the French woman asks who the woman in the picture is and if she is on the island. Sayid says that she is dead and it was his fault. The French woman then tells Sayid that her name is Danielle, and she knows what it's like to loose someone you love. Sayid asks if it was Alex, and she says no, it was her husband Robert who was with her when their ship crashed on the island 16 years ago. They were part of a scientist team. Danielle then shows Sayid a broken music box that Robert gave her and Sayid tells her he can fix it if she releases his hands. She then gives him an injection, and when Sayid wakes up, he is tied to a chair. Danielle lets him fix the music box and is overjoyed when it works. She then talk about "the others" and that they whisper in the jungle. Sayid then asks if he can leave and go back to his camp, but she says no and that he needs her to survive. All of a sudden a roar is heard, and Danielle goes for the guns. Sayid tells her it might be the monster and she says "There are no such things as monsters." After she leaves, Sayid is able to cut the ropes and he grabs a gun and some of Danielle's maps. As Sayid is running in the jungle he catches back up with Danielle. He pulls his gun on her and tells her to drop her gun. Danielle won't do it and Sayid pulles the trigger, but nothing happens. Danielle tells him that Robert fell for the same thing. He asks her why she killed him and she said that he had "the sickness". She finally agrees to let Sayid go, but he asks her one more question about who Alex is. Danielle gets really sad and says "Alex was my child." Later that night as Sayid is walking through the jungle he starts to hear whispers!


Episode 1.10 "Raised by Another"
A Claire Episode
Songs: Catch a Falling Star - Perry Como

Claire starts having nightmares about her unborn baby. In her first one, she wakes up by the caves and isn't pregnant anymore. She hears a baby crying and runs off in that direction. As she is walking she comes upon Locke at a table with playing cards. She asks what is going on and Locke replies "He was your responsibility Claire, and you gave him away. Now everyone pays the price." Claire then hears a baby crying again and soon finds a crib with an Oceanic airplane mobile. The mobile starts spinging and Claire looks though the blankets to find the baby. However, all she finds is blood! Claire wakes up and Charlie calms her down. She then looks at her hands and sees that they are covered in blood. Claire then sees Jack and he tells her that she was just sleep walking and that she dug her fingernails into her hands. Jack then starts to ask her more about her pregnacy. Later, Claire was writing in her diary when Charlie comes over. He tells her that he wants to be her friend and that he likes her. Claire is a little afraid, but is saddened when Charlie is hurt. Elsewhere, Jack walks over to Kate who is sinking her feet in the sand and tells him it's something her mom and her used to do. She tells him that she is worried about Sayid being gone and Jack tells her that he is worried about Claire because she is going to have the baby soon. That night, Claire has another dream and someone comes up to her and puts a towel over her month and injectes her with a needle in her pregnant belly. Claire starts sreaming "Someone is trying to hurt my baby" and wakes everyone up. Jack checks her out but notices that she hasn't been injected. Charlie and Hurley look for the person, but can't find anyone. Hurley decides to use the manifest to make of census of who everyone is and Charlie stays with Claire to keep her calm and promises that he'll look after her and keep her safe. Jack has a conversation with Kate and Charlie and says that Claire has to have anxiety, but Charlie believes that someone is trying to hurt her and the baby. Jack tells them that the stress could make Claire go into labor. Jack then meets with Claire again and tries to give her a sedative, but Claire is shocked that he doesn't believe her. She gets angry and packs up her things and is going back to the beach. Charlie sees what is happening and gets angry with Jack, but quickly leaves to follow Claire. Meanwhile, Hurley asks questions to Ethan. Ethan says is last name is Rom and is from Canada. Then as Hurley is questioning Boone and Shannon, he tells him to get the manifest from Sawyer because it would be eaiser to check on everyone. Hurley is able to convince Sawyer and he eaisly gives it up. Charlie finally catches up with Claire and asks her why she's leaving. She says that he doesn't want to help her he just wants to rescue her because she is pregnant. She tells him she doesn't need to be rescued when she has a contraction! In flashbacks, Claire was living with her boyfriend Thomas when she found out she was pregnant. Her mom had disowned her, and Thomas promised that he was going to help with the baby. A couple of days later, Claire went with her friend Shasa to a physic, but as soon as he started Claire's reading he saw something bad and told her to leave. A couple of months later, Thomas couldn't handle that he was going to be a father and told Claire he was leaving her. Claire got really angry and said that he was doing exactly what her father did when she was a little girl. Thomas left and Claire went back to the physic. The physic finally did a reading and gave Claire a warning. He said "Only you can raise this baby. It can not be raised by another. He needs your goodness in his life." Claire was scared and left. She decided to give the baby up for adoption, and asked the couple to sing "Catch a Falling Star" to the baby since it was what her dad used to sing to her. However, when she went to sign the papers, the pens wouldn't work and Claire decided to keep her baby. However, the physic contacted her again and told her to go to LA on Flight 815 and their was a couple in LA waiting for her. Back on the island, Charlie ran to get Jack, but found Ethan first. He told him to get Jack and where he and Claire were. Charlie then went back to Claire and helped her calm down. She told him about the physic and Charlie believed that the physic knew about the crash and Claire realised that he did know. Then the contractions stoped and Charlie told her that he would take care of her. Claire smiled and the baby kicked and she let Charlie feel the baby. Back at the caves, Sayid came running in and Jack and Kate went to help him, but he told them to stop. He said that he met the French woman and that they are not alone. Hurley then says that one of the people wasn't on the flight. Jack then asks where Claire and Charlie were. After Charlie felt the baby, Ethan came up to them. Charlie asked where Jack was, but Ethan kept staring at Claire. Charlie put his arm arround her and Claire had a terrified look on her face.


Episode 1.11 "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues"
A Jack Episode

Hurley then tells Jack that Ethan wasn't on the plane. Jack and Locke run out to find Charlie and Claire, but only find her bag and footprints. Locke tells Jack they should form a seach party but Jack takes off on his own to find them, feeling that it is his fault. Back at camp, Kate and Boone join Locke, but Locke tells Micheal that he shouldn't come. Feeling angry, Michael then tries to put together is own search party. Jack still can't find anything, and Kate, Locke, and Boone catch up with him. Locke tells him to go back to help Sayid, but Jack won't leave. Meanwhile, Micheal goes to look for Claire and Charlie and tells Walt to stay with Hurley, but Walt tell him that he should have listened to Locke. Jack and the rest still havent' found anything and Locke tells them all to rest by Jack keeps going. Kate follows him and asks why he's so determined and he tells her that he should have believed Claire and that she was right. Locke then calls for them because he found a peice of tape from Charlie's fingers. Charlie left a trail. However, they notice the tracks go in two different directions. Jack and Kate follow Charlie's trail while Locke and Boone take the other one. Elsewhere, it is shown that Walt can make things happen as he beats Hurley everytime at backgammon and Walt tells the rest of the castaways what has happened to Charlie and Claire. On their trail, Locke and Boone start talking about their past and Locke tells Boone that he used to work for a box company. Then, as Jack and Kate are searching he asks her to give him a real fact about her life and how she can track footprints. She tells him that he father taught her. In flashbacks, Jack turned in his father for operating on a pregnant woman while drunk, causing them to die. Christian, who was the cheif of surgery, asks him to not tell the board about what he did. As the dead woman's husband threatens to sue, they prepare for the board meeting. As Christian lies to the board, Jack can't take it and tells the board what really happened. Christian is shocked that Jack did that and that is part ofwhat caused him to go to Australia. Back on the island, Locke is able to tell when it is going to rain and it freaks Boone out. Meanwhile, Jack and Kate get seprated and Jack falls. He is met by Ethan! Ethan tells him to stop following him and Jack asks where Charlie and Claire are. Ethan then punches him and tells him that if he doesn't stop, he's going to kill one of them. They start to fight, but Ethan is able to knock Jack out. When he wakes up Kate is there and Jack is more determined to find Charlie and Claire. All of a sudden, Jack and Kate find Charlie hanging in the trees by his neck! Jack runs over to him and Kate climbs a tree to cut him down. When he is on the ground, Jack starts CPR, but Charlie is not responding. Kate starts crying and forces Jack away and since Charlie is dead. Jack won't accept it thought and pounds on his chest. Suddenlly, Charlie is breathing again and Jack and Kate are overjoyed. However, the didn't find Claire. That night, Michael comes back and didn't find anything and Walt is dissapointed, while Shannon is worried that something happened to Boone. Kate tells her that Boone will be fine since he's with Locke. Jack and Kate try to get Charlie to talk, but he is very quite staring into the fire. Jack says that Ethan must have wanted them for a reason, but Charlie finally says "All THEY wanted was Claire". Still in the jungle, Locke and Boone find something in the ground. It's metal and it's not part of the wreakage.


Episode 1.12 "Whatever the Case May Be"
A Kate Episode

Kate is in the trees getting fruit when Sawyer finds her. They start to walk into a new part of the island when they hear water. They find a huge waterfall and lagoon. They decide to go swimming, but when they get in the water, they see that there are dead paggengers from the flight at the bottom! They are both scared, but Sawyer decided to see if there is anthing important in the luggage. Kate then finds a silver brief case and says it is her own. When Kate doesn't have the key, Sawyer knows that it's not her's. She prentends that the case doesn't matter to her and gives it to him. The tide is rising and people move their things to a safe location along the beach. Jack asks Sayid for more information on Danielle, but the maps need to be translated. Meanwhile, Shannon asks Boone what exactly he is doing. He tells her that they were looking for Claire and tells Shannon that she totally useless. This leaves her hurt. Charlie still isn't talking to anyone and Rose starts to help him out. Kate is still hurt that Sawyer has the case and plans on getting it back. She tries to take it from him while he sleeps, but he catches her and pins her. She gives him a head but and leaves. Sayid then asks Shannon if she will help him translate Danielle's maps and she agrees thinking Boone put him up to it. Sawyer tries everything he can to open the case, but Micheal and Hurley tell him it's useless seeing that the case is a Haliburton, but Sawyer still tries to open it. They tell him to hit it with the ax, but Boone had already taken it to be used with whatever he was doing with Locke. Sawyer then tries to smash it and throw it off a cliff, but as he throws it, Kate cathes it. She runs off with it, but Sawyer is able to catch up with her. Then when she won't tell him what is in it, he makes her give it back. Kate then goes to Jack to help out with getting the case. She tells Jack that it belonged to the marshal and that they keys are in his wallet. She also tells him that it has 4 guns in it and ammo, and that Sawyer shouldn't have them. Jack agrees, but notices that their must be something else in there that Kate wants. He says he will help, but they have to open the case together. Kate and Jack dig up the marshal's body and Kate gets the wallet. She shows him that it is empty, but Jack realises that she took the key. Jack is angry that she's lying to him and takes the key. Elsewhere, Shannon is trying to translate Danielle's maps but nothing is making sense. Sayid tells her that mabye it was a mistake to get her involved and Shannon is really hurt by him. Jack then goes to Sawyer and threaten to not give him medication for his arm if he doesn't give him the case. Sawyer gives it to him and Jack and Kate start to open the case. In flashbacks, Kate is shown in a bank trying to get a loan, when 3 robbers come in. The order everyone to the ground and make Kate and the bank manager come with them. Kate was working with the robbers and makes the bank manger to take them to the vault. Then her boyfriend, and leader of the robbers, tries to kill the man, Kate takes his gun and tells him to stop. She set the robbers up so she could get into the safe. She shoots the other robbers and tells the bank mangers to open up box 815. This crime Kate commited after she was on the run. Back on the island, Jack and Kate open up the case. Jack finds the guns, but also finds an envelope, which is the one from the bank. Kate opens it up and pulls out a toy airplane. Jack asks her if that is what she was looking for and gets angry and demands that she tell him the truth. Kate says it belongs to the man she loved, but Jack knows she's not telling the truth. Then she finally tells him with tears in her eyes that it belonged to "the man I killed". Shocked and confused Jack leaves. That night on the beach Shannon tells Sayid that she translated the maps. It was lyrics to the French version of "Beyond the Sea" and she reconized it from watching "Finding Nemo" in France with her former step-son. Shannon starts to sing it in French to Sayid, while Boone is watching them in the shadows. Charlie asks Rose how she still thinks Bernard is alive and says that she has faith. Charlie breaks down and cries while he and Rose pray for Claire's saftey and her return. Meanwhile, Kate is playing with the toy plane by the fire and Jack looks on worried about her.


Episode 1.13 "Hearts and Minds"
A Boone Episode

Boone is staring jealously at Shannon and Sayid talking. Hurley then comes up to him and asks why him and Locke haven't gotten any boar lately and that they need protein. Boone gets angry and tells him that it's really hard to find them. Later, Boone tells Sayid to stay away from Shannon and that she is only going to use him. Sayid tells him no and before a fight starts, Locke comes to get Boone. As they are walking through the jungle, Locke tells Boone not to get on Sayid's bad side becuase they will need him later. Then the two finally come to what they are working on; a underground hatch that is in the middle of the jungle. They are trying to find a way to open the hatch. Boone tells Locke that they should tell the rest about the hatch, but Locke warns him not to. Boone then says he's going to tell Shannon, but Locke feels that Shannon is controling Boone somehow. However, he tells him that he can tell her if he wants to. Then as Boone walks off, Locke knocks him out with a blow to the head. Elsewhere, Hurley is having stomach problems from not eating enough meat and Jack tells him to go to Jin to get some fish. Hurley thinks Jin has it in for him, but goes anyway. He starts to fish with Jin and he notices that Jin is a really good fisherman. However, Hurley steps on a sea urchin and is in pain. Jin comes to the resuce and helps Hurley get the poison out by making him throw up. Jin and Hurley form a friendship and Jin offers a cleaned fish to Hurley at dinner. Meanwhile, Jack stares at Kate tending to a garden and she notices him watching her. He asks how she did this and Kate tells him that it was all Sun's idea. Jack thanks Sun for buliding the garden, and after he leaves Kate starts to talk to Sun, thinking she can't understand. She says a funny joke and Sun laughs. Kate realises that she speaks English and Sun begs her not to tell anyone. Kate asks why and Sun says "Haven't you ever lied to a man you loved?" Later that night, Sun and Jin have dinner together as Kate and Jack start to grow closer again. In the jungle, Boone wakes up tied to a tree with Locke near by. He asks Locke to free him, but he won't. He puts this pasty glue on his head and tells Boone that he will have to free himself. Locke leaves but he also leaves a knife just out of Boone's reach. As Boone stugles to get the knife, he hears Shannon screaming. This causes him to finally get the knife and find her. Shannon is also tied to a tree and Boone frees her. She tells him that Locke did this and the two start to make it back to camp. However, they hear a noise and the monster is running after them! They hide in a tree and wait for the moster to leave. When it looks like it's gone, Boone and Shannon carefully come out. He then tells her about the hatch. Suddenly, the monster is back and as they run off, it picks up Shannon! Boone screams for her and runs off to find her. In flashbacks, Boone went to Australia to help Shannon get away from her abusive boyfriend Brian. Boone tries to pay him to leave her and tells Brian that he has payed off all of Shannon's boyfriends before. Later at the house, Boone came to get her and is shocked to learn that Shannon conned him. She wanted her inheritance money and it is revealed that Boone is her step-brother. Later that night at the hotel, Shannon came to Boone and told him that she wanted to go home. She also said that she knew that he was in love with her. The two kiss and later sleep together. Shannon then decides that when they get back home things will go back to normal, but they never do go home. Back on the island, Boone finds Shannon dead by a lagoon. He runs back to camp and accuses Locke of killing her. Locke is shocked and points to the fire where Shannon and Sayid were talking. Locke tells him that he gave him a drug so he could have a vision about what to do. He asks Boone how he felt when Shannon "died" and Boone said that he was relieved. Locke then tells Boone to follow him into the jungle and he does.


Episode 1.14 "Special"
A Michael Episode

Michael can't find Walt and askes Hurley and Jack if they know where he is. They don't and when he leaves, Hurley tells Jack that it seems like Michael dosen't like to be a father. Meanwhile, Locke is teaching Walt to throw a knife as Boone watches. Locke tells Walt to imagine it with his mind's eye first, then throw it. Walt does and it hit the tree perfectly. However, Michael sees this and takes Walt and tells Locke to stay away from his son. Boone then starts to fight with Micheal, but Locke drags them apart. Locke tells Michael that Walt should be treated better because he is "special", but Michael tells him that Walt is just a child. Later, he tells Sun that he doesn't think it's good for Walt to be raised on an island. He then has an idea and goes to tell Jack, Sayid, and Shannon who are working on Danielle's maps. Michael tells them that he has and idea to build a raft to leave the island. Jack and Sayid aren't to happy with this idea, but Michael decieds to do it. He then finds Walt reading a Spanish comic book with a polar bear in it. He then gets Walt to help him find supplies to build a raft. Walt really doesn't want to and heads off to follow Locke and Boone. Elsewhere, Boone tells Shannon that he has to help Locke and doesn't want to help her and the rest with the raft. shannon is hurt by Boone being so harsh. Also, Jack and Sayid go over Danielle's maps and see that she keeps talking about "The Black Rock". Sayid also notices that the compases they have show north in the wrong direction. Meanwhile, Kate helps Charlie gather Claire's things for whenever they find her and they notice that Sawyer has some of her things, including her diary. Charlie gets angry and demands that Sawyer give him her things. Sawyer then tells him that he read her diary and that she didn't want Charlie hanging around. Charlie and Sawyer get into a fight and Kate breaks it up. Sawyer then gives Charlie Clarie's things and admits to Kate that he never read the diary. Charlie then tells Kate that he really cares for Claire and her unborn baby and it's really hurting him that they are gone. He later reads Claire's diary and sees that she really does like him a lot and that she kept having dreams about "The Black Rock". He rushes off and tells Jack and Sayid about what he read. In flashbacks, Micheal had lost custody of Walt and had just gotten him back because him mother Susan had died. Susan's husband Brian also didn't want Walt or Vincent, because Walt was scaring him with being "special". Back on the island, Michael can't find Walt and finds out that he followed Locke. However a polar bear starts to chase Walt and traps him in a tree. Michael and Locke work together to rescue Walt and injure the polar bear. Michael thanks Locke for helping him save his son. Later that night, Michael is finally able to show Walt all the drawings he made for him, but Susan never gave him, and the two grow closer again. Meanwhile, Locke and Boone are in the jungle looking for Vincent and the hear a noise. Locke gets a knife and suddenly the see what it is. It's Claire!


Episode 1.15 "Homecomming"
A Charlie Episode

Charlie and everyone at the caves are shocked to see Locke and Boone carrying an unconsious and still pregnant Claire to them. Jack rushes over to help and they lay out Claire and Jack tends to her. Locke tells them that she walked up to them and passed out. As Jack is treating her, Claire wakes up, but starts screaming! Jack tells her that she's fine and safe now, but Claire says "Who are all of you?" After she calms down, Claire tells them she doesn't remember anyone and that last thing she remembers is getting on Flight 815. Jack and Charlie then have to tell her again that they crashed on the island and that it has been a month. Later, Charlie talks with Claire again and reintroduces himself. He tells her that they were friends, that he was also kidnapped by Ethan, and that Ethan is the bad guy. He also gives Claire her diary back, hoping it will help her remember. The next day Charlie and Jin are walking in the jungle when a dart hit Jin! It's Ethan and he hold up Charlie by the neck and tells him to give Claire back to him and if he doesn't he is going to kill everyone each day, and save Charlie for last. Charlie brings Jin back where he is treated by Sun. Charlie, Jack, Locke, and Sayid discuss what to do next. Charlie and Jack want to hunt Ethan down, while Locke and Sayid want to help the rest build up defenses. Meanwhile Claire is worried at how everyone is acting around her. She asks Charlie why, and he lies because he doesn't want her to find out that Ethan hanged him. Meanwhile, Kate meets with Jack and tells him that she heard about what happened to Claire and suggests that the get the guns out from the case. He tells her no saying that an accident could happen. Locke and Sayid built an alarm system to help trap Ethan or anyone else who comes and they all have shifts during the night. Charlie tells Jack that it is all his fault and wants to help keep Claire safe. Jack then tells him that they are all looking out for her and that nothing bad will happen to her again. That night, Boone is on duty but he falls asleep. When he opens his eyes, it's morning and the alarm goes off. Boone goes to see what it is and it's Vincent. However, someone screams and one of the castaways, Scott, is dead. He was killed by Ethan. They hold a funeral for him, and Claire notices that everyone is still staring at her. When she asks Shannon why, she tells her about what happened to Charlie. Claire then confronts him and asks why he lied to her. He said it was to protect her, but she is still angry. In flashbacks, Charlie was dating a rich girl named Lucy, but he needed money to get more herion. He ended up stealing things from her and her father to get money. Lucy couldn't belive that he did this and that he could never take care of anyone again. Back on the island, Jack decides to take action against Ethan. He shows Locke the guns and they get Sayid and Sawyer on their team. Kate wants to go but Jack really doesn't want her to, fearing that something might happen to her. However, Sawyer has and extra gun and gives it to her. Charlie wants to get in on this, but they tell him no. Claire then decides that she is going to help them capture Ethan and will act as bait. This leaves Charlie even more upset as he watches Claire, Jack, Kate, Locke, Sayid, and Sawyer leave. Later on, Claire is walking around in the jungle as the rest are waiting in the trees. Ethan then suddenly appears and chases Claire. Jack tackels Ethan to the ground, and looses his gun, while Kate gets Claire over to the other side of the trees. Jack starts to beat on Ethan, showing how agressive he can be and that no one messes with his people. The rest come and point their guns at Ethan to stay down. However, someone shoots Ethan 6 times and kills him. It's Charlie, who had followed them and used Jack's gun. That night, Jack asks Charlie why he killed him, and he says that he was never going to let him get to Claire again and that he deserved to die. Later, Claire comes up to Charlie and tells him thanks, that she has to trust him and that she remembers peanut butter. Charlie says it was imaginary peanut butter and the two smile for the first time in a long time as they reconnect.


Episode 1.16 "Outlaws"
A Sawyer Episode

Sawyer has a nightmare about when his parents died in front of him, when he hears a noise. He grabs a flashlight and sees a boar going through his things. As Sawyer tries to hit it with a bat, his whole tent to fall down. Then as he is chasing the boar, he stops in the jungle to hear whispers and actually makes out what they are saying: "It will come back around." The next morning, Sayid jokes about what happened to Sawyer and he tells Sayid about the whispers. However, Sayid tells him that it was just stress. Elsewhere, Jack and Kate are putting the guns back in the case and Kate tells him that Sawyer wouldn't give back the gun. She offers to ask Sawyer for it back saying that they are very simmilar, but Jack has this very jealous look on his face. As Sawyer walks through the jungle, he sees his tarp from his tent and hears the whispers again. However, the boar is back and starts to chase him. It tackles Sawyer making him fall in the mud. Later Kate catches up with him and tells him that he is being crazy about the boar and to have Locke kill it, but Sawyer says he's going to hunt it down himself. Kate joins him later and offers to help, if from now on when she wants something from his stash she will get it. Sawyer is angry at this, but agrees needing a tracker. Later that night, Sawyer shows Kate the alchol he has and they play a game of "I never" and find out that Kate was married and that they both have killed someone. Sawyer then has another nightmare and see the boar as his father right before he commits suicide. He wakes up and Kate shows him that the boar came back, but only attack his things and not hers. They hear a noise and Sawyer gets his gun, but it is only Locke. Locke then gives them coffee that he found and talks to Sawyer about the boar. Sawyer thinks it is someone from his past, and Locke tells him that his foster mom thought his sister Victoria, who had died, came back to them as a golden retriever. This makes Sawyer really believe that the boar is someone from his past. In flashbacks, Sawyer was sent to Australia by his partner Hibbs, who had gotten information on the real Sawyer. As Sawyer tracked this guy, Frank, down, he confronted him. He noticed that he was a shrimp salesmen and seemed like a good person, so he left before anything could be done. That night at the bar, he met an older American man. It was Christian, Jack's father! He tells Sawyer that he's not mad at what Jack did, but happy and proud of him for turning him in. He also says that some people were ment to suffer and that "the Red Soxs will never win the world series". Christian then unknownly helps Sawyer decide to kill Frank. Then as Sawyer shoots Frank and gives him the letter, he finds out that Frank was not the real Sawyer, but someone Hibbs wanted dead. Before Frank dies he says "It will come back around". Elsewhere, Charlie is suffering from killing Ethan and doesn't want to spend time with Claire. She is hurt by this, and then Charlie and Hurley burry Ethan. Hurley worries about him and tells Sayid that he is suffering from shell shock. Sayid goes to help Charlie to snap out of it. Later, Charlie is back to normal and asks Claire to go for a walk with him. Back in the jungle, Sawyer finds a baby boar and tries to use it as bait to caputre the other one. Kate is disgusted by this and leaves. However, he realises that it is a mother boar and decides not to kill it. Later on Sawyer meets Jack in the jungle and after some jokes, gives him the other gun. Jack responds to Sawyer's comments "That's why the Red Soxs will never win the world series"! Sawyer realises that he met Jack's dad, but after he asks about his father, Jack gets suspicious. Even though knowing his father still loved him would hlep Jack make peace with his death, Sawyer decides not to tell him.


Episode 1.17 "...In Translation"
A Jin Episode

Jin is looking for Sun and finds her in a bikini, going for a swim in the ocean. He gets really angry and confronts her about it. He yells at her to cover up but she won't listen. The rest of the castaways hear this argument, but can't understand what they are saying. Michael tries to seprate Jin and Sun, but she slaps Michael. They both leave the beach and everyone is confused. Later, Jin asks Sun if something is going on with her and Michael, and she tells him that he is wrong and nothing is going on. Sun later goes to Michael and explains what happened and tells him that she was protect him from Jin. Micheal tells her he doesn't care anymore and that he and Walt are going to leave on the raft. Meanwhile, Jin is playing golf and Hurley tries to be nice to him, but Jin won't go along. Elsewhere, Shannon and Sayid grow closer in there relationship and they kiss, while Boone warns Sayid that Shannon is just using him. Michael plans with Walt what they are going to do when they are recused. He tells him about New York and that him and vincent will like it there. Jack finds out from Michael that Sawyer has joined the raft passengers and they only have one more spot left. That night, Kate and Sun talk about Jin. Sun tells her that Jin was so caring and that something changed him. However, they are interupted by noises and they see that the raft is on fire! Everyone helps to put out the flames, but Michael goes to Sun and demands to know where Jin is. Jack and Kate try to convince him that Jin couldn't have done it, but everyone else thinks Jin did it too. Sun goes to find Jin and sees that he burnt his hands. She's shocked that he did this, and when she says that Michael was just trying to help, Jin gets angry again and leaves. The next morning, Jin is washing his hands in the jungle when he is knocked out by Sawyer! In flashbacks, Jin was a different person. He loved Sun so much, but her father wouldn't allow them to get married unless he worked for the family business. Jin agreed and him and Sun get married and she tells him she wishes his father was alive to see this. Later, Jin discovers what exactly Sun's father does. He's a mafia boss and he has hired Jin as a hitman. He tells Jin and his partner to finally kill a man since he didn't get his message the first time. As they go, Jin notices the man's daughter is in the house and stops his partner from killing him. However, he still beats the man up. That's when he went home and Sun saw him bloody and he realizes what her father has done to him. Jin then goes to vist his father, who is not dead, and is a fisherman. He is embarrased that he is from a poor family and tells his father that he loves him. His father forgives Jin and he explains to his father that he can never tell Sun what her dad really does. Jin's father comes up with the idea of Jin and Sun staying in America once his delivery of the watches are over and Jin agrees to do this. Back on the island, Sawyer brings out Jin and the castaways make a circle around him. Michael is very angry and Jack and Hurley can't hold him back. He starts to beat Jin, but Jin won't fight back. He just keeps talking. When the fight gets worse Sun is so desprate that she finally yells "STOP IT"! Everyone is shocked because she is speaking English and pleads with them. She is able to translate for Jin and tells them all that he was trying to put the fire out. The rest don't belive her, but Locke finally speaks and tells them that it is more likely that "the others" started the fire. Later that day, Micheal decides to rebuild the raft and Sun goes to talk to Jin. However, Jin is packing his things and tells her that he is leaving her and walks away and Sun cries. Later that night, Locke talks to Walt and tells him that he knows he burned down the raft! Walt explains that he didn't want to move again and that he likes the island. Then, the next day Jin goes over to Michael and helps him rebuild the raft.


Episode 1.18 "Numbers"
A Hurley Episode

Hurley is helping to rebuild the raft and tries to understand what Jin is saying. Michael is able to translate for him and the two have started up a friendship. Jack comes over to check on the raft, and Michael suggests they get something that could send out a distress call. Hurley and Jack go over to Sayid and ask if he can help them get a battery from Danielle. Sayid doesn't want to go at first, but is convinced to go with Jack and Hurley. Hurley then takes the maps and notices something that scares him! He sees the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42. He then asks Sayid what the numbers are, but he has no idea what the mean. Sayid notices that Hurley is freaked out and wonders why. Later on, Charlie finds Hurley filling up a lot of water bottles and finds out that he is going into the jungle. Charlie asks if he can go with him, but Hurley tells him no and runs off. Meanwhile, Sayid finds Jack and wants to know where Danielle's maps are. Jack is confused by this and Sayid figues out that Hurley took it. When Charlie tells them that he saw Hurley take off in the jungle, the three of them decide to go after him. Hurley is walking on the beach and finds the cable that Sayid found and goes to find Danielle. Hurley then steps on a trap and Jack, Sayid, and Charlie tell him not to move. However, before they can help him, he steps off the trap and dives out of the way of spikes. Jack asks why Hurley is out here and he tells him that he is wanting to get the battery from Danielle. The four of them decide to find her and Sayid leads the way. They then find a bridge that had to have been built on the island years before Danielle was there. Hurley starts to cross the bridge and the rest try to stop him, but he makes it across. Charlie then crosses it and it breaks, but he made it to the other side. Jack and Sayid tell Hurley to wait for them, but he won't listen. Charlie then tells him that he is crazy for not listening to Jack, and Hurley says to never call him crazy. In flashbacks, Hurley used the numbers to play the lottery and won. However, bad things started to happen to his family and he decided the numbers were cursed. He went back to the mental hospital he stayed at, and talked to Lenny, who he heard the numbers from before. Lenny told him that he heard them with his Navy buddy Sam in the Pacific on the radio. Hurley asked where Sam was and he told him Australia. Hurley then went there and talked to Sam's wife. Sam had commited suicide and belived that the numbers were cursed too. However, she didn't. Elsewhere on the island, Locke has Claire help him bulid a cradle for her baby and he finds out that it is her birthday. Also, Jin and Micheal are building the raft while something is bothering Sawyer from helping them. Also, Sun talks to Kate about Jin and tells her that she is worried that she will never speak or see him again. Back in the jungle, Sayid and Jack are trying to find a way to get to Hurley and Charlie, when Jack steps on a trigger and a bomb goes off! Danielle rigged for her place to blow up. As they look threw the wreckage, Sayid finds his picture of Nadia still intact. Meanwhile, Hurley and Charlie fear that something happened to Sayid and Jack, but gunshots are being fired at them. The run if different directions, and Hurley is stoped by Danielle. Hurley begs her to know what the numbers mean, and she tells him that she heard them on the radio when her team shipwrecked her. She said they found the radio tower, by the Black Rock, on the island and she changed the message. She said that's when her team got the sickness and died. Hurley tells her that he believes the numbers are cursed and she agrees with him since she lost everything. Hurley is greatful that someone agrees with him and gives her a hug. Charlie finds Jack and Sayid and tells them what happened. However, Hurley comes up and gives Sayid the battery and tells him that Danielle says "Hey". That night, Sayid and Jack give Michael the batter, and Charlie goes to talk with Hurley. He tells Charlie that the plane crash was his fault. Charlie tells him not to worry and admits that he was a drug addict. Hurley then admits to him that he won the lottery back home, but Charlie plays it off like a joke. Suddenly, the hatch is shown and a close up is made on it to reveal the numbers stamped on it!


Episode 1.19 "Deux Ex Machina"
A Locke Episode

Locke and Boone are making a trebuchet to open the hatch. They realse it, but it doesn't work. However, Boone notices that Locke was stabed in the leg by the wood and Locke didn't feel it. Locke fears that his legs aren't working again. The next day as they are rebuilding it, Boone tells him that he doesn't think it is going to work, but Locke says that the island will tell them what to do. As they leave, Locke is having trouble walking. Later, Locke and Boone are arguing about how to open the hatch, when he looks to Boone and sees him bloody and saying "Teresa falls up the stairs. Teresa falls down the stairs." Then a plane flys overhead and Locke sees his mother pointing to where the plane went. He then finds himslef back in the wheelchair and tells the island that they can't do this to him. Then Locke wakes up and finds out it was just and nightmare. However, he goes to Boone to wake him up and look for this plane. He tells Boone about his dream, and Boone thinks he is crazy. He then asks Boone who Teresa is. Boone is shocked and tells him that she was his nanny, but she died when she fell down the stairs. As they walk through the jungle, Locke's legs stop working and he falls. Boone goes to help and they see rosary beads in the tree and a decomposed body falls. It's dressed like and priest, but this one has a gun on him and Nigerian money. Elsewhere, Sawyer talks to Sun about what to do for a headache and Kate overhears. She tells Jack about Sawyer having headaches and that he should check him out. Jack finally agrees and talks to Sawyer. Sawyer doesn't want to talk about it since Kate told Jack, but he starts to worry that he has a brain tumor, since his uncle died of one, but he is too scared to have Jack check him out. Later Kate forces him to see Jack and Jack checks him out. Jack asks him all these different kinds of questions about his relations with other women, in front of Kate, and Sawyer gets angry and leaves. Kate then asks Jack if he had to ask him those questions and he laughs and tells her that all Sawyer needs are glasses. Sayid is able to make him some glasses and the rest make fun of his new look. Later, Kate thanks Jack for helping Sawyer, and he tells her "I didn't do it for him." Then the two share a smile. In flashbacks, Locke, who wasn't paralysied, met his birthmother Emily and was told that he didn't have a father. Locke looked into this and found out that his father, Anthony, was a really rich man and Locke decided to make contact with him. He met Anthony and the two formed a bond. Anthony taught Locke how to become a hunter. One day, Locke caught Anthony going through kidney dialysis and he needs a new kidney. Locke is a match and the two go to have surgery. However, when Locke wakes up Emily is there and tells him that Anthony conned him for a kidney. Locke became angry at his father and didn't understand why he would do this to him. Back on the island, Locke and Boone find the Nigerian Plane and Locke's legs aren't working again. He finally tells Boone that when he was on the plane he was in a wheelchair, and now the island has let him be able to walk. Locke then tells Boone to climb up there and check out the plane. When Boone gets in there, all he finds is herion in Virgin Mary statues. Then Boone finds a radio and is able to make contact with someone! He tells them that they are surrivors from a plane crash and he hears "No, we're the surrivors of Oceanic Flight 815!" Then the plane comes crashing down, and Locke is able to walk again and picks up a bloody Boone. He brings Boone to Jack and Kate and tells them that it was an accident and that Boone fell off a cliff. Before Jack can ask him anything else, Locke is gone. Locke is at the hatch and asks the island why it did this to him. Then suddenly a light comes on in the hatch!


Episode 1.20 "Do No Harm"
A Jack Episode

Jack is operating on Boone and trying to save him while Kate and Sun help. He tells Kate to go get Sawyer's alchol stash, and then Boone's lung collapses. He is able to fix it, and he starts to sow up Boone's wounds. Both of Boone's legs are fracted and Boone starts to wake up. He thinks he's going to die, but Jack says he is going to do everything he can to save him. Meanwhile, Claire asks Michael, Jin, and Sawyer about the raft and something is bothering her. After she leaves, Kate rushs to Sawyer and asks for the alchol and tells him about Boone being injured. He gives it to her and also says that Boone and Locke haven't been hunting for boar lately. Back at the caves, Jack notices that Boone has lost a lot of blood and needs a transfusion. He asks Charlie to ask everyone what their blood type is and to find Shannon, who is having a romatic night with Sayid and admits to him that Boone is her step-brother and that they have feelings for each other, but it is in the past. Rushing back, Kate trips and breaks some of the bottles. She hears a noise and sees Claire who is having labor pains. Kate starts to scream for help. Jin is able to hear Kate scream and comes to help. Kate gives Jin the alchol and tells him to give it to Jack and get him here, and that she has to stay with Claire. Jin then rushes off to do so. Jack, meanwhile is trying to find a needle to do the transfusion and Sun gives him a sea urchin needle to use for it. Charlie comes back with bad news that no one matches Boone's blood and that Shannon wasn't found. Jack then decides to give Boone his own blood since he is a type O univeral donor, even though he could die himself. Jin then comes to them and has Sun translate for him that Claire is having the baby. Jack can't and won't leave because of the transfusion, and tells Charlie that Kate is going to have to deliver the baby. Meanwhile, the contractions stopped and Claire thinks she is ok, but then her water breaks and she starts to panic. Back at the caves, Boone wakes up again and tells Jack that the Nigerian plane fell with him in it and that Locke told him not to tell anyone about the hatch. Before Jack can figure out what he means, Boone becomes unconscious again. Charlie and Jin reach Claire and Kate and tell Kate that she has to deliver the baby herself. Jin listens to Claire who is scared that "the others" did something to her baby. Back at the caves, Jack realizes that Boone's leg needs amputated and tells Hurley to get Michael. In flashbacks, Jack was engaged to be married to Sarah, who he fixed in an operation. They were in Hawaii for their wedding and Jack was wondering if he made the right decison. He taked about it with Christian, and he told him that he gets overcommited to things and to do what he thought was best. Jack ended up marring Sarah. Back on the island, Jack gets Michael to rig a device that will cut off Boone's leg. Meanwhile, it's time for Claire to push and Jin leads Charlie away because he would be grossed out to see it. Kate tells her to push, but she won't. She's to scared to have the baby and is afraid that he doesn't want her becuase she was going to give him up. Kate asks her if she wants to give him up now and she says no. Kate also tells her that everyone will be there for Claire and her baby because they are all a family now. Claire feels better and starts to push. Jack is getting ready to cut the leg off and Sun warns him not to do it, but he won't listen to her. As Jack is getting ready to cut it off, Boone wakes up and tells Jack to stop. He begs Jack to let him go and Jack finally listens. Claire finally gives brith to a son as Charlie and Jin jump for joy. At the same time, Boone says to Jack "Tell Shannon..." and he dies. The next morning everyone gathers around Claire to see the new baby all excited and happy for her. However, Jack sees Shannon and Sayid comming back and goes to tell her what happened to Boone. Shannon then cries over Boone's body. Kate then goes to Jack to see how he's doing and he is very angry. She asks what is going on and Jack said "Boone didn't die. He was murdered." Kate is shocked and asks where he's going and Jack says "To find John Locke".


Episode 1.21 "The Greater Good"
A Sayid Episode

Sayid watches over Shannon who is greaving over Boone. He's worried about her and asks if there is anything he can do and she says no. Meanwhile, Kate finds Jack who has been looking for Locke. She tells him that everyone is scared and that he needs to come back to camp. He does and they prepare for Boone's funeral. Everyone is at the funeral and they all have been crying. Jack asks Shannon if she wants to say anything, but she doesn't. Sayid starts and says some nice things about Boone and that he will be missed by everyone. Then, Locke comes up to them and says that he is to be blamed for Boone's death. He also told them all about the Nigerian plane and that Boone died trying to save everyone by using the plane's radio. However everyone is mad at Locke, Jack doesn't by it and asks Locke where he was and punches him! Kate and Charlie get him to stop but he collapses from the blood transfusion. Sayid and Kate take Jack and help him to a tent. Jack says that Locke is hiding something, but Sayid tells him that he needs to get some rest. Michael and Hurley go to Sayid and remind him about the gun case and that Jack has the key. They are afraid that he will do something to Locke. Elsewhere, Charie and Sun try to convince Claire to get some sleep, but she doesn't want to part with her baby. She finally agrees and gives him to Charlie. However, the baby won't calm down and Charlie tries everything he can think of to quite him down. He asks Michael for advice but he's no help, Hurley tries to sing to him a James Brown song, but the baby cries even more. Charlie is finally able to clam him down when the baby hears Sawyer's voice. Charlie convinces Sawyer to read to the baby and Claire finds them. She thanks Charlie and Sawyer for being able to calm him down. Meanwhile, Jack really doesn't want to sleep and realises that he can't get up. Kate tells him that she put sleeping pills in his juice. She did it so he would finally get some sleep and he does. Locke talks to Shannon and says that he's sorry and he knows what it's like to loose someone. However, after he leaves, Shannon goes to Sayid and tells him to do her a favor. Walt is scared of Locke now, and Sayid tells Locke to show him this drug plane. In flashbacks, Sayid was used by the CIA to help stop a terriost plot in Australia and he would be runited with Nadia in LA. It was leaded by one of his old college buddies, Essam, and he pretended to help out. When it came time for the attack, Sayid tried to stop him, but he didn't understand why Sayid would be with the Americans. Essam then killed himself before the CIA cold get him. Back on the island, Sayid keeps asking Locke about what happened. They finally reach the plane and Sayid sees the Virgin Mary statues with the herion. Sayid sees that Locke has a gun and he tells him about the Nigerian man they found. Then Locke admits to Sayid that he was the one who hit him over the head when he tried to boost the transceiver. Sayid get angry and pulls the gun on him and Locke tells him that they shouldn't leave the island. Sayid then wants to know about the hatch. Later, Sayid tells Shannon that it was an accident that Boone died but she doesn't believe him. Meanwhile, Jack wakes up to see Kate staring that him. She's got some food for him, but he doesn't want it. He puts his hand to his neck and realizes that someone took the key to the gun case. Jack blames Locke but Sayid says he thinks it was someone else. Sayid, Jack and Kate run into the jungle but Jack is too weak and Kate helps him. Sayid keeps going and finds Locke being held up by Shannon. She took the key. She belives that Locke killed Boone and threatens to shoot him. Sayid tells her that she will regret it if he dies. Jack and Kate come and see what Shannon is doing. Shannon tells Locke "I hope you suffer" and shoots him! Sayid stops Shannon from firing again and Kate goes to see if Locke is ok. He is fine and the bullet just grazed him. Locke stares at Jack because he didn't come to help him. Later, Kate tells Sayid that Shannon will be ok and he tells her that he had a choice not to show her the gun case. Locke later thanks Sayid for helping and Sayid tells him that he is one of the keys to their survival. In order to trust him again, Sayid asks Locke to take him to the hatch. He does and Sayid is amazed at how there really is a hatch.


Episode 1.22 "Born to Run"
A Kate Episode

Kate is playing with the toy airplane when Charlie comes over with his guitar. He is very happy about being rescued and tells Kate that they are all going to be famous. However, Kate doesn't want to be known. Charlie is confused, but they hear talking comming from down the beach. Dr. Arzt, a high school science teacher, tells them that monsoon season is comming. He tells them that they need to get the raft going so they have more of a chance of surviving to find rescue. Kate asks Michael what they are going to do and he says they will launch the raft the next day. He asks why she wants to know and Kate says that she is going with them. He tells her that the raft is full and Kate tries to get Michael to leave Walt behind but he won't have it. Sun then asks Jin if he is going to go and he tells her that he is. Sun is upset and leaves. Meanwhile, Sayid takes Jack to the hatch where Locke is waiting for them. Jack is shocked to see how big it really is. Sawyer is helping Michael and Michael tells him that maybe he shouldn't be on the raft with them and that other people are interested. Sawyer goes to find Kate and sees her buring Joanna's passport to make it her own. He tells Kate that he knows she is a fugitive and she is not getting on the raft. Kate then tells him that if she wants his spot she will get it. Michael takes a break is talks with Walt about sending people back here for help, when he doubles over in pain. Walt is worried and finds Kate and Sun and tells them what happened. Sun goes to Michael while Kate gets Jack. Jack, meanwhile is angry at Locke for keeping the hatch a secret. He then talks with Sayid about opening it. Sayid doesn't want to open it and says that maybe the hatch wasn't supposed to be opened from the outside. While they walk back, Kate runs into them and tells what is wrong with Michael. Jack tries to figure out what is wrong and tells Michael to stay still and rest. Along with Locke, Jack looks through the water bottles and finds one with white residue. He tells Michael and Michael suspects that Sawyer did this. Elsewhere, Hurley lets it slip to Locke that Kate was a fugitive. Charlie is writing songs about what happened on the island while Claire cuts his hair. He asks her if she and the baby have anywhere to go in LA. She tells him no and he asks her to move in with him. Claire accepts and Charlie is very happy. Later, Kate asks Jack if someone is going to take Michael's place on the raft and Jack asks her if she poisoned him. She asks if he thinks she did this, but Jack says he doesn't know what she's capable of, leaving Kate hurt. In flashbacks, Kate is on the run but gets a message saying that her mom, Diane, is dying of cancer. She goes back home to Iowa and meets up with Tom, her best friend from when she was a kid. He's married now and has a son and he tries to help Kate vist her mom, since he is a doctor at the hospital. He is able to get Kate to see her and she apologizes for what she has done, but her mom is scared of her and starts screaming. The cops chase her and she gets in a car and Tom goes with her. As she drives, the cops fire at her, but hit Tom instead and he's dead. She stops the car and tries to get Tom's toy airplane but can't reach it and she runs away. Back on the island, Locke is fixing his leg when Walt tells him that he didn't poison his dad. He tells Walt not to worry and offers his hand for a hand shake. Walt takes it but then warns Locke "Don't open it." Meanwhile, Sawyer gives Michael some antacid for his stomach, but Michael still thinks he did it. Sawyer gets upset when Michael calls him a crimminal, and he grabs Kate and brings her over. He takes her bag and dumps it out and finds Joanna's passport. He tells them all what she was going to do and that Kate was the fugitive with the marshal and that she only cares about her self. Kate admits to being the fugitve and tells Michael that she didn't poision him. No one belives her and they all look at her differently and leave her alone starting at Tom's plane. Meanwhile, Jack finds Sun and asks her if she wants Jin to stay. She tells him yes, and Jack asks if that's why she tried to poisioned him. She tells Jack that she didn't mean for Michael to get sick and that she only put enough in there to make him sick. Jack tells her he understands, won't tell anyone, and says that she better say goodbye to Jin before he leaves. That night, Kate is at the fire and Sawyer tells her that he got his spot back on the raft and they will leave the next day. Kate asks why he wants on the raft and he tells her there is nothing worth staying for to him. Walt goes to Michael and learns that they will be leaving the next day. Walt then tells him that he was the one who burnt the first raft. Michael is shocked and Walt tells him that he didn't want to leave. Then when Michael suggests that Walt stay, Walt tells him that they have to. Later, Kate is at her tent and Sun comes up to her. She tells Kate that Jack knows about the poision, but she didn't tell him it was Kate's idea. Kate tells her thanks, and Sun says that she was only trying to help her and doesn't need punished. Sun then tells Kate that when she was little, she belived that when she found her love, they would be happy forever. Then Kate says "Me too."


Episode 1.23 "Exodus: Part 1"

Walt wakes up on the beach and hears someone comming. It's Danielle! Walt runs back to camp and wakes everyone up and tells them that Danille is comming. Danielle walks over to them all and Sayid tries to calm her down. He asks what's she is doing here and she says "The others are comming!" She tells everyone that she was with her scientist team when they shipwrecked on the island 16 years ago. There were 6 of them and she was pregnant at the time. She said she had to deliver her baby alone. Danielle stares at Claire and her baby, then says her and her baby were only together for a week when they saw a pillar of black smoke. She said "the Others" came that night and took her daughter Alex. She the says they are comming again for everyone and "the others" can't be stopped. They only have 3 choices "Run, Hide, or Die". Jack and Locke try to figure out what to do and if they should trust her. They talk to Michael and he is still wanting to launch the raft. Jack decides for the whole group to work together to help. Meanwhile, Claire is worried that Danielle is here. She tells Charlie that she's afraid that "the others" are comming back for her son. He asks if that's why she hasn't named him yet and she tells him yes staring at Danielle. Later, everyone works together to help Michael with the raft. Under Jack's command they all take a hold of the raft and start to push it to the ocean. However, the mast breaks and the raft stops moving. They all start arguing but Walt sees something and is scared. Michael turns to look at what he is looking at and is shocked. He tells Jack and everyone to look and there is a big pillar of black smoke! "The Others" are comming! Jack later asks Danielle what to do and how many of "the others" are there. She says a lot but they can't hide over 40 people. Jack then decides to take Danielle to the hatch. They, along with Sayid, Hurley, and Locke, go to the hatch. Danielle has never seen it before at all. Jack asks where she got the dynamite from and she tells him that it was in The Black Rock in the Dark Territory of the island. Meanwhile, Sawyer tries to help Michael and Jin rebuild the raft, but they don't want his help. Jack then addresses everyone as the leader that he has a plan. He and a group will go with Danielle to get suppiles. Everyone else will stay and help get the raft into the ocean then everyone else has to go to the caves. He promises everyone that they will be back and that everything will be ok. Then Dr. Arzt tells Jack he is going with him because he knows how to handle dynamite. Meanwhile, Sawyer is cutting up some trees when Jack comes. Sawyer wonders why he is there and Jack gives him a gun to use on the raft. Then it hits Sawyer that this might be the last time they see each other. Jack tells him good luck, but Sawyer stops him from leaving. He tells Jack about meeting Christian in the bar in Australia and that Christian still loved him, was proud of him, and was sorry for what he did. Jack is shocked by this and gets teary eyed and Sawyer realises that Christian died. He then wished Jack good luck. Later, Kate asks Jack if she can go with the to get the dynamite. He really worries about this, but says she can go. Charlie is collecting messages in a bottle for loved ones when they get rescued. Jack and his group quickly say good bye to Michael, Jin, and Walt. Jack, Kate, Locke, Hurley, and Arzt follow Danielle into the jungle into the dark terrioty. Danielle says that this is where her team got the "sickness". Arzt gets freaked out and runs off. Back at the beach, Michael and Jin are arguing, when Sawyer comes up with the mast he made. They thank him and he helps put it back on the raft. Back in the jungle, Kate hears a noise and Arzt running past them screaming for them to run. All of a sudden, the monster is chasing them! Locke and Hurley stay while Jack, Kate, and Danielle run off. They all eventually catch up and Arzt rejoins them. They ask Danielle if she knows what the monster is and she says it is the security system. At the beach, Sayid gives Michael a gift. It is a radar system so they can see if any ships are comming. He also gives his a flare gun, but there is only one left. Shannon is packing her and Boone's things, when Walt comes to her. He asks her if she can take care of Vincent for him. She asks why and Walt says he helped him get through his mom's death and he thinks Vincent will help Shannon. She starts crying and thanks him. Back in the jungle, Danille suddenly stops and tells them that they are at The Black Rock, and it is a huge ship. Meanwhile, Sun gives Jin a book she made for him so he can learn to speak English. Jin suddenly starts to cry and tells Sun he sorry. Sun says she is too and Jin tells her to stay with Jack because he will keep her safe. Sun tells Jin she loves him and they kiss. Later, Charlie gives Sawyer the messages in the bottle and Sawyer wonders where Kate is. Then everyone works together and finally gets the raft in the ocean. However, Vincent runs from Shannon and starts to swim after Walt. Walt has to tell Vincent to leave and it breaks both the boy and dog's hearts. Michael, Jin, Sawyer, and Walt waves their goodbyes to everyone as the raft leaves.


Episode 1.24 "Exodus: Part 2"

The pillar of black smoke is still burning, as Charlie helps Claire get her baby ready for the move to the caves. Claire is very worried about her son and that "the others" are comming for him. Charlie goes to Sayid to get a gun, but after killing Ethan, Sayid won't let him have one. In the jungle, everyone wonders how a ship this huge could have gotten on the island. Danielle tells them that the dynamite is in the hold and she leaves. Jack, Kate, and Locke head into the ship and notice that this ship was a slave ship probably comming from Africa to the eairly colonies of America. They then find the crates of dynamite. Jack and Locke carry out the dynamite and Arzt goes to inspect it. Arzt starts to explain how you have to handle old dynamite very carefully. He uses Kate's shirt and wets it to wrap the dynamite in. All of a sudden there is a boom, and Jack, Kate, Locke, and Hurley and thrown to the ground. Arzt has just exploded! On the raft, Michael, Jin, Sawyer, and Walt get to see how big the island really is. Walt is worried about the rest on the island and Michael says he hopes they will be alright. At the beach, Sun worries about Jin and if she will ever see him again. Shannon is trying to move all of her's and Boone's things, as well as Vincent, and Sayid comes to help her. He asks if she needs all this stuff, and she tells him yes. Back in the jungle, everyone is dealing with what just happened and Hurley is taking it hard. Kate tries to talk to him, but Hurley says it was because of his bad luck. Jack and Locke are now having to deal with moving the dynamite. On the beach, Charlie gives Claire a present. He made a sling so she can carry the baby around. Claire is really happy and kisses Charlie, on the cheek. All of a sudden Danielle comes and says she needs Sayid. Charlie runs off to get him and Danielle stares at the baby. Claire looks and see scratches on her arm and asks "Why did I scratch you?" Charlie gets Sayid, but the hear someone screaming! It's Sun and she's holding Claire who has been knocked out and the baby and Danielle are gone. Charlie and Sayid decide to go after her. In the jungle, the groups draws straws to see who will be the two to carry the dynamite. It's Locke and Kate, and Jack's not that happy about her carrying it when it could explode. On the raft, Sawyer is reading the messages in the bottle and finds on from Hugo who won the lottery and has a lot of money. He asks if anyone knows who he is, but they don't know that it is Hurley. Meanwhile, Charlie and Sayid run towards the black smoke and get the guns from the case. Sayid tells Charlie that he thinks Danielle is going to try to trade the baby for someone else. All of a sudden Claire run towards them and tells them she is going with them. They tell her no and Charlie promises he will bring him back. Claire says "Bring Aaron back." She named her baby. Charlie promises her and hugs her. On the raft, Michael is showing Walt how to stear it, when they hit something and the rudder falls off! Sawyer dives in after it and reaches it. Jin and Michael pull him back up and Michael finds the gun Sawyer has with him and isn't to happy. Back in the jungle, Locke puts his backpack on safely, while Jack tenderly puts the backpack on Kate as his fingers slide down her arms and the two stare at each other for a second. Then Jack and Hurley lead the way towards the hatch. Meanwhile, Sayid and Charlie keep going towards the smoke when they pass the Nigerian Plane. Sayid lets Charlie take and break and shows him the plane. However, he also shows Charlie the herion, but he has no idea what Charlie used to be. Charlie see this and he starts to panic. As the dynamite group walks towards the hatch, Hurley asks Locke what is inside it and Locke says "Hope". All of a sudden they hear a weird noise and a huge bird takes off. Then, Kate and Jack see weird black smoke, and suddenly the monster is back and starts chasing them again! Jack, Kate, and Hurley run while Locke stays still and takes his backpack off. However, this time is different from last and the monster takes him and starts to drag him away by this feet! Jack takes of his backpack, and runs after Locke. He's able to catch his hands before the monster can pull him into a hole. Kate comes and Jack tells her to get the dynamite, but it's not in her pack, it was in his! Kate runs to get it and Locke tells Jack to let him go. He will be alright, but Kate comes with the dynamite and Jack tells her to throw it in the holw. She does and there is an explosion and they pull Locke up and see black smoke come up and dissapear. Back on the raft, Michael and Jin practice English and Michael tries to give Jin back the watch, but Jin won't accept it. He says Michael can keep it and the two have formed a friendship. At the caves, Sun and Shannon try to confort Claire and Sun tells her that Charlie will bring back Aaron. Claire asks how, and Sun says because he promised and that she believes in fate. Meanwhile, Charlie and Sayid are running and Charlie spots the baby. He goes to pick him up, but it is just a log. All of a sudden, something hits Charlie in the head and he has a big cut. Sayid tells Charlie to go back, but he won't. He has Sayid fix his wound just like the do in war with a match. In the jungle, Hurley starts repeating the numbers and Kate overhears him repeating 23. She asks what it means to him but he won't say. Jack and Locke are arguing about what happened with the monster with it turns to a faith/sciene debate. Jack is a man of science where Locke is a man of faith and there tourches cross in a X. Locke tells Jack that he believes that the island has brought everyone of them here for a reason. Jack tells him he doesn't believe in destiny, but Locke says "Yes, you do. You just don't know it yet." On the raft, Michael and Sawyer argue about how to handle the radar and he finds out that Sawyer's father commited suicide. Michael tells him that there are only two reasons he would help, he either wants to be a hero or he wants to die. Sawyer then says that he's not a hero. Suddenly, the radar beeps and something else is in the water! Meanwhile, Sayid and Charlie find the source of the black smoke and it is a fire on a new part of the beach. However, there are no footprints around. Suddenly they hear a baby crying and the shout for Danielle. She comes holding Aaron and crying. Sayid gets her to hand him Aaron and gives the baby to Charlie. Danielle explains that she took Aaron because she wanted Alex back. Charlie tells her she is crazy and wrong. However, Danielle says "the others said that they wanted the boy." Back at the hatch, Locke and Jack set up the dynamite, but Jack is creeped out by how Locke is acting. He goes to stay with Kate and she asks him why he tricked her, he said that he's the leader, but people don't like it when he makes decisions and that he was trying to keep her safe. He says that if they survive this they are going to have a Locke problem. He asks if she's got his back and Kate tells him "I will always have your back." Hurley walks past the hatch and suddenly see the numbers stamped on it! He starts screaming that they can't open it and that it's bad. Locke doesn't listen and lights the fuse and Hurley tries to stop it. Jack runs and tackles him and the bomb goes off! Back on the raft, Michael sends up the flare gun to the ship. A tug boat with 4 people on board come over to them. Everyone is happy that they were found, but that soon changes. The man on the boat say "We're going to have to take the boy!" They realise that this is "the others" and Sawyer pulls his gun, but his is shot by one of the men and falls into the ocean. Jin dives in after him and the men caputre Walt and throw Michael off the raft. A woman throws a bottle and it explodes on the raft causing it to catch fire! The boat pulls away with Walt screaming "DAD!" and Michael screaming after him. Back at the caves, Claire waits and suddenly sees Charlie holding Aaron! Claire runs over and takes her son and hugs Charlie overjoyed. Sayid and Shannon run to each other and hug. Later, Charlie is sitting with Claire as she inspects his wound on his head. However, in his pack is a Virgin Mary statue! At the hatch, Jack, Kate, Locke, and Hurley see what happened. Jack and Locke pull off the hatch door and look down the long shaft!
