Let Love In

Chapter 1

The sun was blazing in the early morning, as they sky was a bright sunny blue. Perfect weather for Lost. thought Evangeline Lilly, as she took a swig from her water bottle. It was early August and filming was about to begin for season 4 of LOST. She had her portable fan with her, as the heat barred down. It hadn’t rained, and the humidity was warmer than usual. She spotted Yunjin and Emilie playing with the newest infant portraying Aaron, still wishing one day Kate would have one so she could play a mom. She smiled at the thought, but was still fighting nerves.

Why did Matthew Fox always make her feel like a giddy high school girl? And this time the nerves were worse. She hadn’t spoken to him since they filmed the season 3 finale in LA, and the fight happened. Evie winced thinking about the harsh words they said. They had never fought like that before, and she missed him terribly. Almost 3 months went without them speaking or touching, when they used to daily or nightly.

Most of that time was spent by Matt in Germany filming “Speed Racer”, or in Italy with his wife. Jealousy hit her hard when she found out where Matt was, and to find out on the internet no less.

But a part of her was happy they would have this time together. The loneliness was terrible. She tried spending time with Dominic, but even he could tell she wasn’t fully happy. Evie wondered if Dom could ever seen what was really going on, that she was using him. She didn’t want to do this to him, but Dom genuinely cared for her and loved her, and she needed to not feel rejected. Which dread came in her mind when she remembered that she was supposed to meet Dom tonight at her house. He was filming scenes for a Hurley flash forward, and needed to talk.

Suddenly her thought ended as she heard that voice; Matthew’s. Evie turned towards the direction and saw him walking toward them. He caught her nervous eyes, and he smiled his smile. The one he only gave to her. Evie lit up, seeing it as a good sign, and smiled widely back.

Maybe things won’t be so bad.

Seeing her smile like that made his day. Matt hoped she still wouldn’t be mad, and it was confirmed to him. Evangeline was still as beautiful, if not more than the day they met.

June 2004

“Matt! I’ve got to introduce you to your leading lady!” J.J. Abrams took Matt’s shoulder and led him over to a young, wavy haired brunette, with sparkling green eyes. Matthew’s breath was taken away by her beauty. “Matt, this is Evangeline Lilly.”

Matt took her had and saw her smile. “Hello Evangeline.”

“Nice to finally meet my leading man.” She laughed the sweetest laugh he’d heard. “Please call me Evie. That’s usually what I go by, but that southerner, I think his name is Josh, called me Freckles.”

Who know, J.J. hears that, he’ll write it in.” Matt chuckled and was glad to see her laugh along as well.

Suddenly, he caught her eyes traveling up and down his body. “Evie, are you checking me out?” He said playfully.

She bust into laughter. “No, I just sizing up my leading man to see if I can beat him at a push up contest.”

Matt was taken aback. “Is that a challenge?”

She touched his arm, and fire went through him. She whispered “You know it, and I’m kind of a tomboy, so watch out.” She winked at him and walked away.

“It’s going to be fun getting to know her.” Matt said to himself as he took a drink.

“Alright everyone, take places.” The director called out and Matthew headed over to where Evie was standing. They were getting ready to film a Jack and Kate hug. He looked at Evie again, and she started back and she her mouth silently to him “I missed you.” He was taken aback, but smiled and mouthed “Me too.”

“And ACTION!”

He was Jack now and walked over to her Kate, met up, and said their lines. It wasn’t hard to portray these deep feeling, cause the two shared them all the time.

As Evie stepped forward to hug him, Matt felt her arms encircle his neck. It felt good for them to be in contact again. Her body next to his, the feel of her skin on his. Something he missed terribly in those past 3 months. He closed his eyes not wanting it to end, but as soon as it started, Evie pulled away, cause Kate had to go after Naomi.

“And CUT!” The director yelled. “That was perfect. Cue up the next scene.”

The actor and crew started to move and Evie went as well. But Matt needed to talk to her.

“Evie, wait!” He yelled as he ran up to her.

She turned around surprised, but he saw the longing and hopefulness in her eyes.

“I need to see you. We need to talk.”

She smiled but looked down, saddened. “I want to, really want to, but I can’t.” Her eyes dared to look into his. “Dom asked me to meet him.”

He felt the jealousy again, but understood. She must have spent time with him while they were away, and the engagement rumors were back. “Oh. Maybe another time.”

Seeing him hurt, she dared to take his hand. “We will. I promise.” Then Evie gave his had a gentle squeeze and walked off to join the cast as they got ready.

Maybe he could finally make it up to her. Start to make things right.
